Top herbal teas to enjoy in winter

As the weather turns colder, a piping hot cuppa is the perfect way to warm up from the inside out. Made by infusing dried botanicals, including herbs, fruits, roots and spices, herbal teas have been used since ancient times for a variety of applications from improving well-being to promoting calm. Grab your ugg boots, pop on the kettle and sit back to find out more about some of our favourite organic herbal infusion blends to enjoy in the colder months.

Lemon & Ginger

Our organic Lemon and Ginger herbal infusion is one of our most popular blends to enjoy over winter. Ginger has a warming flavour and instead of using it in dishes such as stir-fries and curries, its application in this infusion means you get the same mild heat and spice in a drink. Blended with lemon peel, lemongrass and lemon myrtle for a citrus zing, this is a great option to fire up your day in the morning or bring warmth in the evening as it is caffeine-free.

Peppermint

Mint is another one of top herbal infusions. With its crisp, refreshing flavour, it’s a great option to cleanse the palate after a meal. New to our online store, you can now have our organic Peppermint and Ginger infusion delivered directly to your door. We love sipping this cooling-warming combination after a meal or to unwind at the end of the day.

Camomile

Camomile is a popular night-time herbal infusion in many parts of the world as it is caffeine-free. This makes it a great alternative to black tea or green tea for those looking for a warming evening cuppa that won’t disrupt sleep. Derived from a daisy-like plant, camomile has a sweet floral flavour and can be enjoyed on its own or with a little honey stirred through for extra sweetness.

Camomile is also delicious served as an iced tea in the warmer months. Check out our easy recipe for Camomile & Pineapple Iced Tea for a floral summer cooler.

Rooibos & Vanilla

Rooibos (pronounced ‘roy-boss’) is a shrub-like bush native to South Africa, also known as ‘red bush’. In the plant kingdom, rooibos belongs to the legume family, Aspalathus linearis, and is naturally caffeine-free. Our Rooibos & Vanilla organic blend has a beautiful red colour and a naturally sweet flavour with smoky, woody, floral and caramel notes. You can sip rooibos on its own, or add milk and a little honey for a comforting bedtime treat.

If you love to use tea in your baking, we’ve got the perfect recipe for you! Our Vanilla and Rooibos Cookies are made with pantry staples and our Nerada Vanilla and Rooibos Tea. They’re simple to make and so easy to enjoy.

Rosehip

Our Rosehip infusion is made from the fruit and seeds of the wild rose plant, blended with lemongrass and ginger. It has a lovely red colour and a delicate, floral flavour that’s slightly sweet with a distinct tart aftertaste. The plant is also used to make rosehip oil, which is used in aromatherapy. Rosehip contains vitamin C and antioxidants, which make it a go-to brew for this time of year.

Echinacea and Lemon

Echinacea is a plant that’s native to North America and related to the daisy family. With vibrant pink petals, it’s one of the most commonly used herbs worldwide. Native Americans have used it for centuries for a multitude of purposes and it’s the star ingredient in our new herbal infusion that we’ve released just in time for winter.

Our echinacea is carefully infused with lemongrass, lemon myrtle and lemon peel for a refreshing and soothing brew. Naturally sweet and caffeine-free, it’s the perfect pick-me-up to enjoy at any time of day. Available in Coles supermarkets Australia wide.
